Yes, you can clone the network name (add _EXT at the end to know it's WiFi extender). Or you can call it something completely different. You can also use the same network password as the router to simplify login.
Can I use it as a router?
It cannot.

What should I do if I change my modem after installing this WiFi extender?
The answer to your question is ALL IM SETUP. If you are setting up your modem for the first time or if you are changing modems, connect the Ethernet cable from the desired modem to the WiFi extender (on the bottom). That is all! WLAN is now looking for this modem and nothing else
Does it work with tp link ac 1900 router?
It is dual-band and works with all current 2.4 and 5.0 GHz routers. Don't worry about setting it up and enjoy its extended range!
Does this product come with a type G plug?
No, you may need to look elsewhere or get an adapter.
Does it work with any router? I have a Linksys.
This should work with any wireless router.
So is this a wifi repeater and also turns your electrical system into an ethernet cable?
This is a WiFi amplifier. There is nothing in the documentation that would lead you to believe that the home's electrical system is being used. You can connect an Ethernet cable directly to this device.
How do you connect to the Internet?
wirelessly connects to your existing WAP
Create WiFi for Xbox or PS4 when there is no internet?
If there is an internet connection available that you can log in to, this signal will be boosted. But it cannot do WiFi if there is no internet signal.
How many extenders do I need if my modem is on the first floor and I want to extend the signal to the second floor?
First, you never want to use daisy chain extenders. Every time you run your service speed the speed will drop and eventually you won't have any usable service. Extenders should be placed halfway between the router and the desired location. If multiple extenders are used, they must be installed in opposite directions. If an extender doesn't work for you, you might want to look into AV1000 or higher powerline adapter kits.
Does this work with Mac/Apple products?
whether it will work is not limited to an operating system.
Does it work on Spectrum router?
Yes. TP-Link Wi-Fi extenders are universally compatible with Wi-Fi routers.
Does it work with dishes?
It didn't work for me, let alone Dish.
Will this work if I use my iPad 3?
Yep, you plug it into the wall and anything that uses wifi or ethernet will work with it.
Use of motorhomes in campsites?
Yes, if the camping router broadcasts the SSID. You must reconfigure the device for each new location.
Can you plug the device in backwards so you can use the bottom plug in the outlet and not block the top plug?
If you can. The plug is not polarized (does not have a thick side blade), so it will fit in the outlet anyway.
How does this work with a hub and smart home devices?
It extends the WiFi signal for them.
Is it just that the extender has the same SSID as your router?
Yes it is. Having the same SSID makes it easier to connect, but it's not the best setup. If it has the same SSID, there will be signal conflicts, when roaming, it will connect to the first one you are connected to, even if it is weaker, it will automatically connect to the closest one within range first, and you can't. just switch your device to switch to the other one.
When using the extender with a TP-Link router, is it possible to maintain parental controls on the devices that connect through the extender?
Y
